QoS routing with traffic distribution in mobile ad hoc networks

چکیده
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) follow a unique organizational and behavioral logic. MANETs’ characteristics such as their dynamic topology coupled with the characteristics of the wireless communicationmedium make Quality of Service provisioning a difficult challenge. This paper presents a new approach based on a mobile routing backbone for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) in MANETs. In real-life MANETs, nodes will possess different communication capabilities and processing characteristics. Hence, we aim to identify those nodeswhose capabilities and characteristicswill enable themto takepart in themobile routingbackbone and efficiently participate in the routing process. Moreover, the route discoverymechanismwe developed for the mobile routingbackbonedynamicallydistributes trafficwithin thenetworkaccordingtocurrentnetwork traffic levels andnodes’ processing loads. Simulation results showthatour solution improvesnetwork throughput and packet delivery ratio by directing traffic through lowly congested regions of the network that are rich in resources. Moreover, ourprotocol incurs lowercommunicationoverheads thanAODV(adhocon-demanddistance vector routing protocol) when searching for routes in the network. 2008 Elsevier B.V. Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
متن کاملMitigating QoS Routing Challenges In Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Considering Lifetime And Energy Predictions With Traffic Distribution
Mobile Ad hoc Networks are highly dynamic networks. Quality of Service (QoS) routing in such networks is usually limited by the network breakage due to either node mobility or energy depletion of the mobile nodes. To fulfill certain quality parameters, and to achieve network stability, presence of multiple node-disjoint paths becomes essential. Such paths aid in the optimal traffic distribution...
